I climbed Mount Tateshina (蓼科山, 2,531 m), one of the northern peaks of the Yatsugatake range in central Japan, to photograph its winter landscape. Known as the “Suwa Fuji” for its symmetrical form, Tateshina rises above alpine forests into a world shaped by wind, snow, and volcanic stone.
Above the tree line, the terrain opens into frozen ridges where wind sculpts the snow into flowing patterns, recording each storm like a natural archive. Weather-twisted trees mark the struggle for survival at high elevation, while distant views stretch across the Japanese Alps under a pale winter sky.
In winter, Mt. Tateshina reveals its quiet character—harsh, minimal, and deeply serene—where light, temperature, and altitude define every detail of the landscape.🏔️
日本中部・八ヶ岳連峰北部に位置する蓼科山（2,531m）に登り、冬の風景を撮影した。均整の取れた山容から「諏訪富士」とも呼ばれる蓼科山は、亜高山帯の森を越え、風と雪、そして火山岩によって形づくられた世界へと続いていく。
森林限界を超えると、地形は凍てついた稜線へと開け、風が雪を彫刻のように削り出す。幾度もの嵐の痕跡が、自然の記録として雪面に刻まれていた。厳しい高所環境の中で耐える樹々の姿が、生存の境界線を物語り、淡い冬空の下には日本アルプスの遠景が広がる。
冬の蓼科山は、静かで、厳しく、そして極めて清澄な表情を見せる。光、気温、標高——そのすべてが、この風景の一瞬一瞬を決定づけている。
